Abstract
Background: Quality of life in old age, as a key indicator, reflects the individual’s overall perception of their life-world and the degree of satisfaction with their current living conditions
Purpose: This study aimed to develop and test a structural equation model examining the impact of motor behaviors on dimensions of quality of life and general health in older adults, based on the World Health Organization framework.
Methods: This study utilized a descriptive-correlational design incorporating structural equation modeling (SEM). The sample consisted of 200 older adults aged 60–80 years. Data were collected using the CHAMPS Physical Activity Questionnaire (2001) and the WHOQOL-BREF, and subsequently analyzed using LISREL software.
Results: Measurement model results showed significant factor loadings for quality of life indices ranging from 0.58 to 0.86. SEM analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between motor behaviors and dimensions of quality of life, with path coefficients for general health (β=0.65), environmental health (β=0.61), social relationships (β=0.55), physical health (β=0.43), and psychological health (β=0.35). Model fit indices (χ²/df=2.18, CFI=0.96, GFI=0.93, AGFI=0.90, RMSEA=0.05, SRMR=0.041) indicated an acceptable model fit.
Conclusion: Findings confirm that motor behaviors are significantly associated with various dimensions of quality of life in older adults, suggesting that providing safe and tailored opportunities for physical participation should be prioritized in health promotion programs.
